Revalidation is used to ensure doctors are up-to-date with training and fit to practice medicine. It applies to all licensed doctors in the UK, both in the NHS and the private sector. All scopes of clinical practice are included.

All doctors must go through the revalidation process, typically every five years. However, not all doctors are guided by an experienced agency like HCL.

Our revalidation support makes the process as simple as possible for you. We’ll keep you informed on what to expect throughout the process, starting with establishing the correct governing body for you.

The revalidation process

Revalidation is based on annual appraisals, ensuring that all doctors meet GMC requirements. A Responsible Officer (RO) will use the annual appraisals to recommend to the GMC to revalidate you.

Our revalidation partner

To provide you with the most thorough support for your revalidation, we are delighted to be working with Medsu. Medsu is an organisation managed and run by doctors for doctors. Through Medsu, our dedicated RO is Professor Rehan Kazi.

If you have not yet revalidated and need support through the entire process, Medsu can assist. Medsu provide you with an experienced dedicated RO, an e-portfolio and a professional work cloud. This will help you collate to documentation and simplify the process. With Medsu, you will receive a fully outsourced, risk managed service that covers all elements of revalidation, from appraisals and 360 feedback, to managing the GMC online account.

If you have already revalidated, then Medsu offer an appraisal service accessed via HCL. Additionally, an experienced dedicated RO will help you build and maintain your documentation. That way you will be prepared for all revalidations in the future.

There will be a cost associated with some or all your revalidation requirements. Your dedicated point of contact at HCL will be able to inform you of charges that are applicable to you.
